Denise,
You're much too young to be so set in your ways! Seriously though Legeres
don't have the effect that you're claiming (and cane isn't wood....) You
can try them and like them or not but what I find disturbing is that "Your
director would kill me if he even knew you bought one." Exaggeration maybe
but I'm bothered by edicts like "Thou shalt not use plastic reeds," (Larry
Combs playing a Legere still sounds like Larry Combs...) Thou shalt not
buy Rico reeds" (because they don't realize that anything exists except the
orange box), "Thou shalt not use a plastic clarinet" (forget the fact that
Howarth and Buffet make professional level clarinets in the stuff) and on
and on. When I hear them I try to make a note to mention "the other side
of the story" and I'm usually a little more tactful than this...
