Several things I have learned about Legere reeds:

1. They work better with a mouthpiece that has an even and symmetrical
facing. Don't condemn them if they don't work on your mouthpiece. Maybe it's
your mouthpiece that's at fault.

2. They DO work satisfactorily on a mouthpiece with a concave table. I had
thought otherwise, but I proved myself wrong.

3. I played several outdoor concerts last summer, in the heat and humidity. I
found that the Legeres held up better and were more reliable. In this case,
they were the "best" reed.

4. If I use my best Legere reed in rehearsal, I can save my best cane reeds
for the performance. This is particularly important if you have a rehearsal
right before the concert.

5. Most people, including musicians I respect, cannot tell if I am playing on
a Legere reed rather than a cane reed, even when I feel there is a difference.

6. Don't try to adjust the Legere reeds. Find a size that works best with
your mouthpiece, and just use them. One of the wonderful things about them is
getting away from fussing with reeds!

We all need to lobby Guy Legere to make 1/4 sizes more generally available! I
personally found the 3 3/4 work best for me, and are almost an exact
equivalent to the typical Vandoren V12 3 1/2.

If I may make a suggestion, why worry about which is better, cane or
synthetic? View the Legere reed as another TOOL in your kit, to make you a
better overall clarinetist.

I always carry 4 Legere reeds with me in my case, along with 8 to 12 cane
reeds. They're especially good at saving your butt when your "best" cane reed
decides to take a powder!

Special on Legere reeds through December - $13 a reed and I pay the postage
and handling. Such a deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have sizes 3, 3 1/2, and 4
available.
