With ref to the above (and to Tony W's prior outburst which I have subsequently found)...

Why can't we keep this discussion forum civilised? Let's keep this kind of personal attack out of
the public eye. If any members of this list wish to insult another's person, please do it off-list!
As has already been stated, children subscribe to this list, and no doubt get a great benefit from
having such wide-ranging expertise (both from professional musicians and from enthusiastic amateurs)
at their fingertips. By all means attack other people's arguments. Vigorously if necessary. But keep
the obscene language and personal attacks (flames) off this list.

I respect and admire both of you, based (mostly) on your posts to this list. As with many other
contributors, your opinions and knowledge are an asset to the list, and I would be saddened if the
list were to lose either of you. I am happy that this list is uncensored and self-governing. I am
happier participating in a forum where _anyone_ can post _anything_ than one where every post is
scrutinised before issue. Let's just keep the posts civil.

Tony P:
I think that Tony W had a couple of good points - I don't think it is a very good example to be
setting to the younger members of this list. Some of your recent inflammatory posts (including the
one snipped above) do portray a negative image of professional music in this country (and in
general). Please tone it down. And please keep the attacks on other list members off the list.

Yes, you had some valid points, but I think you made them in the wrong way. While the content of
some of Tony P's recent posts was inappropriate for this list, equally so with your upper-case
response. I understand that you felt strongly enough to comment, and appreciate your apology to the
rest of the list (which accompanied your post). But please keep attacks on other list members off
the list.
