how we use those two muscle groups

Perhaps this is too obvious to be worth posting, but things such as
biting the reed, opening the throat, visualizing "blowing through",
tongue position and so forth have an effect on dynamcs also.

This is true...but what does thinking of "blowing through" make the muscles
do? I'll ask again, in another way, what I am getting at: Is the loudest
sound is made when the abdominals are at their tensest AND the diaphragm is
releasing as quickly as it can? The problem I am getting it is the
possibility that some players focus on the abs and don't include the
diaphragm enough, and since there is some coordination involved, they can't
achieve their potential when it comes to producing a very loud sound.
