Sorry to disobey a direct order, Sir, but, as another of the great bleeping
unheard, I thought that one of the issues had to do with "look at me"
behavior by performers, as a form of poor interpretation that distracts from
the music -- sort of the way loading a message with dirty words and flaming
distracts from the intellectual content.

I use the bleeped word myself, in contexts where other people routinely use
such language to the point where it's as meaningless as "you know" and
"actually". However, the klarinet list is part of an educational site, and
as such it is subject to the scrutiny of parents. Some of these parents use
software filters that detect raw language, for the purpose of barring the
kids from using "adult" sites or subscribing to "adult" lists. The parents
probably don't want to bar their kids from educational sites like sneezy.org,
but the software can't tell the difference. For that reason, I think people
who care about keeping the klarinet list open to young music students will
prefer to keep our language clean -- unless someone is so seriously
disgruntled with this list that the objective is to trash it.
