How sad this news is. Mark and I played and recorded together in the =
San Francisco Symphony 1981 - 1983.=20

I remember his playing as the ideal for sound, phrasing and =
expression. He was really state of the art in his playing days.

Indeed I have heard for many years amongst my professional =
colleagues - of whatever woodwind instrument - words spoken in the =
highest possible complimentary terms regarding his artistry - more often =
so than any other wind instrumentalist.=20

I was fortunate enough to have taken a few music lessons with him =
during summers early on while a university student. My clarinet teacher, =
Marcellus, always spoke about him as exemplary of the finest in woodwind =
playing (they played together in the Cleveland Orchestra in the 50's and =
60's).

Wondering if there is an oboe list or bulletin board somewhere out =
there where he is being remembered?
