I mentioned a short while ago that I have recently taken up the =
clarinet. I mentioned also that I could not afford to get formal =
tutoring. At the school where I work as site manager a tutor comes in to =
give lessons to some children. I spoke to her about my problem. As I =
have my clarinet with me at the school, she asked me to play something =
for her. She said it was quite nice but I really should have help from a =
tutor.
She, very kindly, has written down detailed instructions as to how I =
should practice from now on. Starting with long note practice through =
tonguing, scales ,arpeggios, and study pieces. She said I should do this =
5 days a week and could have a rest Sat& Sun. If I took this seriously, =
stopped playing 'tunes' and got rid of that horrible wobble I call =
vibrato, then she would be prepared to listen to me occasionally and =
correct any mistakes. I think I have been very fortunate to find this =
person. Has anyone anything to add that might be of help to me or any =
comments on this subject. I love the clarinet and really want to play it =
well.
