Subj: [kl] Bass clarinet question

Hello, everyone! I'm not exactly new to the list - I was on it for
awhile a few years ago, but dropped off and never got around to signing
on again until now. So, I'll reintroduce myself briefly.

I played clarinet during my school years, and like most people gave it
up when I graduated high school. But about eight years after that, I
realized I missed it, so I dragged my old plastic Bundy out of the back
of my closet, found a teacher and started over. That was 10 years ago,
and now I'm playing in a community orchestra, a woodwind quintet and a
couple of concert bands.

Three years ago, I started playing bass clarinet in the orchestra and
bought a low-end Selmer student model, which is not satisfactory for
symphonic playing but it was all I could afford at the time. Now I'm
looking around for something better, and my question concerns an
instrument I am trying out for a couple of weeks. The serial number is
P4912 and it says "Depose" above the trademark on the upper joint. I'm
not familiar with that model (if Depose is in fact the model name). I'd
like to know if this is an intermediate or professional-level model, and
also how old it is.

Thanks!

- Donna
