Hello everyone
My name is Yusuf Zaid I'm 56 and started to learn to play the clarinet =
2 months ago. I bought a really cheap instrument from a pawn shop, a =
tutor book, and within days was able to get a few 'tunes' out of it. The =
clarinet had no name on it and the mouth piece was really chewed up so I =
bought a standard Buffet mouthpiece from a local retailer.( I'm from =
England by the way). I'm having to teach myself as no way can I afford =
lessons. I had a great deal of trouble getting over the break until I =
discovered the Clarinet Bulletin Board and, after hours of searching =
found I was holding the instrument all wrong and that the clarinet was =
probably on its last legs anyway. So yesterday I had got together enough =
to buy myself a new Buffet B12. Wow, what a difference. Feels like =
sitting in a Rolls Royce after riding a push bike. The wife didn't like =
me spending the money but even she admitted that it was probably worth =
it if I was serious about playing. I have now submitted to this digest =
and have found it most stimulating and informative.=20
Right now I have a question to start with. As I cannot afford lessons do =
any of the English subscribers know of any good instructional videos =
that I could get here in England that would at least give me an idea how =
I should be holding the instrument properly and give me an idea of good =
technique?=20
Thank you for your time reading this, I hope I wasn't too long winded =
(pun?)
Yusuf =20
