Fivers,
There are studies that can acquaint one with the process of playing
groups of five.
Jean Jean 18 etudes, has a study,#5, that has quite a section, all in
5/8th to a bar.
The Bellison book, Scales and arpeggios (Carl Fischer) has a chromatic
study at the end that has triplets, then groups of four, then five, six,
seven and eight.
They come with many types of articulation.
I believe that if one practices this kind of thing, one can get a
feeling for groupings of five etc.
Bartok's Contrasts has a small section with groups of five. This also
occurs in the cadenza at the end of the first movement.
When I mentioned the group of five at the beginning of Brahms 2nd, that
is because I noticed that pupils (and others) usually rush the ascending
arpeggio because of the way the last group of five looks.
