I went back to the Simiot, because the crack didn't develop. Running
superglue into it cured the leak, and the crack closed up when I wasn't
practising it several hours a day -- as obviously, I did to begin with.

But probably the mouthpiece is too modern. Oh, well. I got used to the
fingering as the rehearsals progressed, and Lesley's instrument required
a lot of research into what reeds would go on its mouthpiece, for which
I didn't have time.

In the end, it was a success, string and all! Lots of positive
response.

By the way, I notice (again!) people asking what effect dangling a
string down a clarinet has.

Do you have clarinets? Do you have string? Different sorts of string?

What more need I say?

Tony
