What's the difference between the above and writing seven eighth notes

This thread started with my question about how rigidly the literal
meaning of a tuplet should be enforced when the literal meaning appears
not to fit well with the composer's intention.
This said, the precise meaning of a "7" is seven notes played
during either 4 or 6 beats, whereas two triplets + "1/3 note" would be
seven notes played over 4-1/3 beats. So there would be 1/3-beat
difference between the two notations.

notation and
indicate the time in seconds?
Glenn, what is space notation?
Thank you,
Bill
