Tony, sorry to ask this dumb question. Aren't you making it
unnecessarily
complicated? What's the difference between the above and writing
seven eighth notes over the entire bar with a bracket and a 7 above it?.
Or alternatively, wouldn't it be easier/clearer to use space notation
and
indicate the time in seconds? Your second idea would increase the speed
of the eights unless one made a note that the bar was to take longer.
