Try sleeping with the conductor. No Joke! It worked for my sister back in
the 60's. She was a decent alto sax player but went to eastern regionals
on tenor because the conductor - long since deceased - just had to have her
in the group.

I demanded equal treatment but couldn't find any female conductors.
