I'm giving a lecture/performance at the Illinois Music Educators
Association convention in January, and the title of my lecture is "Clarinet
Pedagogy - Extra Credit for Squeaks!" My guess is that you would be a
great candidate John!

The high A is the next partial available in the series using an E
fingering. A couple of things can cause the A to pop out - incorrect
tongue placement in the soft palate/back of tongue, and accidentally
venting the thumb hole (LH). It is very doubtful it is your Zonda reed.

BTW - a word about Zondas. They've improved! I used them for the last two
concert sets in the Symphony, the last being Lincoln Portrait and
Appalachian Spring, and the Zondas outperformed both the Vandoren V12s and
Grand Concert Select (Thick Blank) - all were strength 4 on a 1.20 tip
mouthpiece with an asymetrical facing.

Sincerely,
Roger Garrett
