My original post referred to the accidental catching of the tip of a baton on the music stand,
either launching a fragment of it, or the whole baton (if held lightly) towards an unsuspecting
member of the band/orchestra. I saw an oboist nearly impaled (in a Symphonic Wind Ensemble) by a
flying fragment once. Hilarious for all but the oboist!
