Well, something fairly close to that appears in quite a few compositions
issued by English publishers. I have seen "louden" used to indicate a
crescendo, and I must say it has always seemed rather stilted terminology.
I can't provide a specific reference at the moment, but I think this may
appear in the "English Folk Song Suite" by Ralph Vaughn Williams.
