I have a young adult alto sax student who has a stud in a central position
just underneath her bottom lip. She has never mentioned any discomfort and I
have not mentioned it either. It looks as tho` it is just touching the reed
where the lip joins the chin. It does not seem to affect her playing, nor
her round and strong sax tone. That`s somewhat different of course to the
tongue being pierced, but I mention it for the reason that if something
alien is close, but not actually interfering with embouchure, I reckon not
much harm with come of it, unless the excessive movement of tongue loosens
the stud, and inflicts some minor abrasion to the tongue. Swallowed, the
loosened stud could potentially cause some concern. If the stud pierces the
reed, then eureka, that might indeed discover the "embouchure parfait" we
have everlastingly been searching for.
