As to a horn "losing its soul" because it has stayed or played
somewhere else for a while, we shouldn't forget the jazz maxim (I forgot
who said this) that a horn doesn't have any soul until it has spent some
time in a pawn shop.
I don't know if ebay and police auctions can serve the same
purpose, but if the horn ever gets back to David, perhaps it will have
*more* soul, not less. Just happy to be back home.....

Then again, the thief may've used one of the joints as a handle for
his tire jack because he got a flat tire as he was making his
getaway.....
