Subj: [kl] Reed vs. second register
Date: Thu, 2 Nov 2000 21:31:11 -0500

I've lost the reply, but someone here advised me to sand the tip of
my reed, gently across the grain, just one or two strokes, in order to
coax the reed not to jump into the second mode.

So I tried it, and it appears to have helped the reed quite a bit.
The reed still isn't the best reed in the world, but it seems to be much
more controllable.

Was I removing some fuzzies from the reed's tip? Or was I
reshaping the leading edge of the reed's tip? Or was I doing something
else to the reed?

Thank you,
Bill
