I'm playing "Elixir of Love" Friday evening on my Buffet RC prestige C
clarinet and my Ralph Morgan C Clarinet mouthpiece, the thing tunes damn
near as well as my set of Rossi's. And easier than my set of R-13s. I've lent
the horn to other's playing the opera on different nights and the reaction
have been amazing, "Wow C Clarinets aren't supposed to be in tune". They
aren't using the " C" mouthpiece either. Bad horns play out of tune, with bad
players. Bad horns play in tune for players with good ears, and lots of work!
I highly recommend the new E@-----.
Way better then the noblet! and less expensive! I have never played a
Morgan mouthpiece that is a squeakier, the facings are really consistent, and
I've played many concerts on them. I will say I'm playing a zinner blank that
I've refaced myself. If "your" Morgan was squeaking, I think the problem more
likely is in "your" embouchure or the reeds you were trying.
The only place I would buy any of these horns is from International Musical
Suppliers, over the years when I was buying clarinets for myself, or for the
US Army Field Band, Lisa Argurus at international always sent really great
instruments, in great condition. So far I've bought , 2 r13 Bbs, 1r-13A, 1RC
prestige C, and a Prestige low C bass. All are fantastic horns. I spent a
weekend in Chicago trying Bbs 2 years ago, and all the instruments she picked
out were great! Now I just have her ship them. I do think I'll head back
there to pick out my D clarinet. Just for the fun of it.
