I also played C clarinets for many years and I never had any intonation
problems with them. So I suppose this results in a Mexican standoff.
And in any case, neither your experiences nor mine constitute a general
truth. So I suggest that there is nothing substantive in the assertion
that all C clarinets have intonation problems. Probably, like B-flat or
A clarinets (or anything else), some do, some don't.

I just don't want to scare anyone into saying, "Well, if they are all
that bad, I won't get one."
