I was not too 'happy' with the suggestion by James Cohn
that Weber's Andante and Hungarian Rondo, was originally
a clarinet piece and therefore recorded by Jon Manasse on XLNT CD 18005.
It was written for viola (1809), for Weber's brother Fridolin (Fritz) and
arranged later (1813), 'almost as an apology', for the Munich
bassoonist Georg Friedrich Brandt, the dedicatee and first player
of his Bassoon Concerto, (called the "1st"), as no "2nd" Concerto followed.
