A typical response, if I may say so:-)

Dear Tony,
I for one (& I know I "speak" for several others) am delighted to see that
you've emerged from self-imposed exile to produce some more of your own
"typical responses".
Irony, parody, satire, sarcasm, self-analysis, ridicule and farce - areas in
which you excel - have been sadly lacking from recent postings (IMO), so
welcome back - please keep up the good work!

If you feel inclined to respond on a more serious note, I noticed that you've
stated in the past that listening to recordings of yourself invariably makes
you cringe, something that we all (well, most of us - with good reason)
share.

What I would like to ask is this: Specifically, what were you dissatisfied
with on your own recording of the Mozart clarinet concerto (for example)?
That recording seems to me to approach (its own particular type of)
perfection as anything I can imagine. (Perhaps my imagination's a bit
defective.)
Identifying what you perceive as "faults" in this perfect recording (other
than that it's about a semitone flat) would be immensely instructive.
Welcome back and thanks in anticipation,
Tim Shaw.
