The bass clarinet is the property of Mr. Hattner. He reported it to the
police. The police had no legal right to dispose of it to anyone but the
owner if they knew or should have known who that person is (was?
whatever!) The occasional use of the defense of "bona fide purchaser for
value" does not apply when either the buyer or seller knows that the item
is hot and/or got it for less than fair value. Alert the seller, the
seller's auctioneer, webmaster or email provider to the problem.
