Steve's mention of "=E9" (and he might as well have mentioned =E7,=C7,=E8=
and =FC,)
encourages me to offer my discovery back when Windows 95 came out that you
can change keyboards by going into the Start, then Help, then keyboard,
then install and add keyboards compatible with lots of different languages
and cultures. The one I use all the time for French is the French Canadian
keyboard because our friends up north us a QWERTY layout whereas the folks
in the old country use the AZERTY layout. The keyboards of your choice
then appear as options down on the lower control bar of the screen.
Anyway, the one drawback is that you have to get an image somewhere of the
keyboard you want to use so that you know where the letters and symbols
are. They used to be published in the DOS manuals. My old DOS 3.3 manual
has 58 keyboards shown in Appendix E! Give it a try, you bilinguals out
there. It will change your life!
