Subj: [kl] Stolen Bass Clarinet

This morning, I received a follow-up note from "Ryan G. eBay Customer
Support" about my message supporting David Hattner's desire to get his stolen
bass clarinet back from the eBay dealer who bought it from the police. The
message from "Ryan G." appeared to me to be compiled from boilerplate
paragraphs. It was based on the (incorrect) assumption that I had been
involved in a disputed eBay transaction. The bottom line was a total kissoff:
eBay won't do anything and it's up to the parties to resolve disputes
privately.

I think the letter was entirely computer-generated, with no human input. It
looked to me as though the eBay computer simply responded to certain keywords
in compiling the response to my message, since the paragraphs were not
remotely germaine to the situation, reflected no comprehension of what I had
written and (aside from standard opening and closing paragraphs) seemed to be
in random order. Oh well.

Lelia
