Concerning scholarships:
Is there a difference between: (a) requiring a student to play in
the ensemble that he promised in exchange for the scholarship, and (b)
requiring the school to teach the ensemble for which the student paid
his tuition?
I agree that this question becomes murky if the student didn't
choose his instrument before he paid and enrolled; but in this case,
wouldn't the student who didn't state his choice before enrolling have
less right to depose a student who did, regardless of skill?
A factual question: Do any music schools guarantee ensemble in
the student's instrument if the student declares his instrument on
enrollment and doesn't change once he or she is inside the school?
Thanks,
Bill
