Brahms Opus 120, No. 1 and No. 2:

Does anyone know if these two staple clarinet pieces were originally =
written for clarinet or not? I have heard them performed on viola, and =
seen sheet music for viola of them also (the last part of No. 1 seems =
more appropriate for bowing than tonguing to me).
