Couple of suggestions:

1. Press down the sliver key on the lower joint when playing the F#. (the
one you use for chromatic F sharp and B natural).
2. Make sure you are using plenty of air support.
3. Pull in the corners of your mouth.
4. Voice the instrument. (Say, "eeeeee", and then blow the note with the
tongue in that position. (simplified method of explaining voicing)).

Biting harder is usually the worst way to bring up the pitch in the
altissimo range because it generally causes a pinched sound. If the
embouchure, air support, voicing are properly done, assuming that the
reed, mouthpiece and instrument are in good condition, you should not have
to bite in order to bring in the pitch. When playing the Clarinet
properly, very minor changes should be made to the embouchure.

Every effort should be made to have one embouchure for the entire range of
the Clarinet.

If all else fails, find a good teacher that can help you to analyze the
problem more effectively.

Subject: [kl] extreme register

I have this problem of playing the extreme register F# really flat. I try
to
lip it up but only to a point where it is about 5 to 10 cents flat. I can't
even get it to become sharp. I've had this problem w/ the F and I've fixed
it
but that was because I was able to lip it sharp...and now I pretty much
have
the embosure down. This is annoying the heck out of me and I was wondering
if
anyone had any good suggestions about how to practice or to fix this
problem.

Thanks,
Takumi
