Subj: [kl] Tualatin Valley Community Band Concert
Date: Tue, 24 Oct 2000 19:44:40 -0400

The Tualatin Valley Community Band will be putting on its fall concert this
Sunday, October 29, at 3 PM, at the Deb Fennell Auditorium at Tigard High
School, in Tigard, Oregon. This is a free concert.

The program will consist of:

A Night in Mexico -- Paul Creston
Fantasia 2000 -- Arr. Jay Bocook
West Side Story -- Leonard Bernstein
Amparito Roca -- Jaime Texidor
Brass on Broadway -- Arr. Luther Henderson
The Midnight Fire Alarm! -- Harry Lincoln
Into The Raging River -- Steven Reineke
Molly on the Shore -- Percy Aldridge Grainger

As the principal clarinet player, I'm particularly concerned about the Grainger
piece, which consists of approximately one billion fast eighth notes for 1st
clarinet, and about ten notes for the rest of the band.

The Reineke is a new piece; it's a tone poem which very effectively presents
the image of a white water river rafting trip.

The Tualatin Valley Community Band is an all-volunteer group of about 50
musicians from all walks of life, including everything from middle school
students to long retired band directors.
