Stew,

Without getting personal, age might play a factor. There are, however, many
people who continue to play well to a ripe old age.

Are you taking lessons? Maybe you're working harder than you need to. Maybe
you're working the wrong muscles. Consider some lessons.

Also, consider joining a community band or orchestra. Nothing like having
something to work for to keep you practicing every day.

I have no suggestions about any non playing exercises or isometrics. I've read
of some, and maybe those who have suggested them before would offer them again.

Keep playing. Riding an exercise bike isn't nearly as fun as smelling the great
outdoors.
