Hi Mary;
Cannot help you out with a Pete Fountain book
but I have a simple suggestion for you. Back when
I was in 5th or 6th grade my private teacher (Arlen Asher)
had me learn an easy melody and solo (Battle Hymn of
the Republic) by Pete Fountain from a recording. It
was one of the best things he ever did for me and I can
play it note for note to this day!
There are many books out now of Artie Shaw and
Benny Goodman solos, but learning things by ear is,
IMHO the best way to go!
