Several others have already given some good advice. I would just like to
add that you should try playing it if it is in good enough condition to do
so. If it's been well taken care of and you like the way it plays, go for
it. Many of us play older instruments. My primary clarinet is from the
early to mid 1950s and my backup instrument is from 1940. Both are very
nice instruments.
