Hello J. Shouryu Nohe,
Hello Bill,

Thanks for yours long and interesting answers.

I had my lesson this afternoon and i have made progress this week, all
the advivces i have from the list made a VERY GOOD effect on my playing. My
teacher seems to think that i'm walkin in the good direction, with no problems
Now i'm really more confident with my clarinet ;-)

All the french clarinetist plays with Vandoren Mouthpieces (it's what say my
teacher, who is considered like a very good musician in France), but i think
here there is no tradition of search on material like in USA.
If you talk about Chabash or different Mouthpieces they know nothing.
I have talk about the Chabash to my teacher (he never heard of that!) and he
want to try. At one store in Paris (in front of the Nationnal Conservatory!)
they have almost twenty pieces, but nobody has try them.
French Jazz saxophonist are more involved in this kind of stuff.

Here i can try Jewel, Lomax and maybe Pomerico. I will try them but some are
very expensive and i don't want to made a mystake. I know that "I have to try
myself" ;-) it's an evidence, but if somebody have a good experience on one of
them ... and there are maybe some very known traps to not fall in !

J. Shouryu Nohe, i understand when you speak about the position of the tongue.
I have made the work on the harmonics (Sigurd Rasher method) and use them "a
lot" in my sax playing and improvisations. Joe Allard in a few lessons gave me
good basis on that. I agree with you when you say that you 'VOICE' . For me (on
sax) , it's more a question of "phonation" and 'resonnator' (the nose, sinus)
than simply tongue position. This afternoon during the lesson i just sing a Bb
'OUHH' (with a sound that i have found is actually good for my clarinet sound on
this register) before playing it and my teacher has completly agree that it
helps me. But i cannot say that i found anything effective on clarinet ! The
high register can be so beautifull than when i heard me ... !!!!

I haven't yet read the article "magic diminuendo", i have to print it for
reading it .

Thanks to J.S.N for what he wrote about "The resistance change and
controlling the airstream" .

<BILL<she has demonstrated to me that a clarinet embouchuredoesn't work on a
<saxophone. The way you hold your chin felt a lot different to me, in addition
<tothe lip placement.

I am quite shure that we cannot play saxophone with the embouchure use my
clarinet teacher (who has a beautifull clarinet sound) , but curiosly the
opposite seems to me more practicable with some adjustments. (maybe a lot ;-)

PS:
- Actually, what i like a lot on clarinet is the staccato. To learn a new
position of the toungue than with the sax is a great pleasure.
For me the staccato is really a beautifull/fantastic/magic/infinite thing on
clarinet.
