Subj: Re: [kl] Tenon problem with R13 Greenline clarinets?

Thanks to Roger Garrett, Chuck West and Walter Grabner for helpful responses
to my posting about Buffet Greenline clarinets. My teacher and I did go to
the Washington Music Center on Saturday to look at clarinets.
Unfortunately, they had shipped out the last of their R13 Greenlines a day
or two earlier, and didn't have any for us to try. I've had to put off this
purchase a few times already, and didn't have the heart to wait for them to
restock the Greenlines.

We looked at some standard R13s, some Festivals and some Vintage R13s. In
the end, the clarinet we liked best was a standard R13 (wood). I'm sorry we
didn't get to try a few Greenlines, but I'm very happy with my new horn.

I'm really glad that I didn't try to make this purchase on my own. I'm
still a beginner, and if my teacher (Al Hunt) hadn't been with me, I think
it would have been a lot harder for me to choose a good horn. I think
that's good advice for any beginner or intermediate player -- bring your
teacher, or someone you know who plays well and whose judgment you trust.

Thanks,

Mike Holmes
