The thing that finally worked for me -- thank you, Steve Hartman --
was putting down the {long r.h. C} key when playing G-above-the-staff.
I've been told about this before, but I forgot.

However, this escapade impressed another point on me. If you look
at the {l.h. C#} hole, there's a noticeable lengthwise distance between
it and R3; and yet the result is still a G that my tuner cannot
distinguish from {no r.h. keys}, albeit the tone is completely
different. Sometimes you hear people talking about how a clarinet is
"unstable".... but not always. I can imagine using this weird fingering
for the sake of a special effect in some specific situation.
