Pattie,

You got the point and made it clearer.

I also have been stumped in the past when working with student who have
much larger lip mass than me, which does seem to affect tone quality. I
have not gotten to work with any of these people to find cause, effect
and possible solutions.

I also found out during voice lessons that i have a rather small mouth
opening. But that doesn't keep me from learning to adjust soft palate
and tongue to get clear resonant vowells.
