I finger D-on-the-staff the normal way (TR + L123 + R123) and then
I slur (no tonguing) to the G above by lifting R123.

The pitches are OK according to my tuner (as near to OK as I ever
get, at least); but there's a marked change of tone when I do this slur.

So, when I slur to G, I've tried leaving R1 down and also putting
down the L.H. C# key. This makes my G tone stuffier and closer to my D
tone without destroying the pitch.

But I'm wondering if there's anything else to say about this change
of tone? My B and C and D on-the-staff all have the same tone, and
therefore the temptation is to blame my G-above-the-staff?

Thank you,
Bill
