I would think that what Ann mentioned - that human beings are different from
one to the other - Ann correct me if I have misunderstood what you meant -
but I think this makes a good argument for why asymmetrical mouthpieces work
for some people. Some folks have very asymmetrical jaws and tooth
structures, etc. inside their mouths. Perhaps asymmetry in the opposite
direction on the part of the mouthpiece could possibly correct for the
asymmetry of the person - or, more likely, a more holistic approach in that
the asymmetrical mouthpiece helps create for that person, the combination
of
player - instrument that is most conducive to optimal clarinet playing for
that individual.
