Yes, it does, unfortunately. Buffet markets a 2-ring set in metal, and
Selmer (I think) markets a 5-ring set in plastic at a lower price. The
metal ones are a sloppy fit in the R13 barrel (either top or bottom) and
have a larger hole in the middle, so they never can block any part of the
bore. The Selmers have a bigger outside diameter, but smaller inside
diameter. They will fit the lower barrel joint, but not the upper
(mouthpiece) end. They fit the lower joint snugly, and they also reduce
the diameter of the bore at this point by just a bit. They seem to have
been made for a larger bore.

Surprisingly, both sets seem to do the job and not produce problems. at
least to my ear. So I guess you'll just have to get both and see for your
self. (I got the Selmers at The Music Shope, but mail ordered the Buffets
- of local interest to Roger only.)
