Subj: [kl] Molter concerti - ornamentation
Date: Thu, 12 Oct 2000 04:51:13 -0400

I read Simon Aldrich's article on the Molter concerti (in Klarinet
magazine) with great interest but am still in the dark about improvisory
ornamentation in these works. I have just begun to get to know them and
have a student working on #3, as transcribed by Pamela Weston.

It seems to me that the style of the music - as well as the period in
which it was written - suggests more ornamentation than is notated. Can
anyone shed light on this subject? My order of recordings of the
concerti will not arrive for another six weeks, so it would be very
helpful to hear/read discussions of these pieces in advance.

Thanks much,

Anne
