It is a mistake on EVERY edition except Barenreiter. If you listen to
Tony Pay's recording (which uses the Barenreiter edition), you will hear
it played as I suggested.
If you want to see the authority for the change, examine the Barenreiter
volume with the concerto in it and look at the facsimile in the rear of
the volume for the manuscript (in Mozart's hand) of the basset horn
concerto in G. There is NO mistaking what he wrote for the basset horn
(and the violin) at the points I suggest, and it is presumed that this
is what the manuscript of the clarinet concerto said at these same two
points.
