Roger G. says: <<I believe that each reed, with infinite dimensions will each react in a
different way, unique to the warped back of that reed, to a concave table. I further believe that a flat backed reed on a flat backed table will not
react with the same variety and inconsistency as the opposite. There is no way to remove warpage of a reed back until it is in fact sanded. Many reeds arrive this way.........>>

Roger, a year ago I would have voted 100% in your column. I believed this myself STRONGLY.

My own experience over the last year, has strongly led me to the opposite conclusion. It may be that the flexing of the reed to accomodate the concave table helps avoid the worst warping.

As I said before, I DO NOT sand the back of my reeds anymore either.

I have also, never played better in my life, even when I was playing 4 or 5 hours every day.

Sorry to disagree...and with all respect...but that's where my experience is taking me.

Walter
