To me a "swab" is one of those absorbent (and abhorrent) things about 4 inches long on the end of a
stick which beginners vibrate up and down the inside of their clarinet to clean it with (ignoring
the potential damage to the register key tube, or the joints where the wood/wire is carelessly
rubbed).

By "swab" do you mean what I would refer to as a "pull-through"? (i.e. like a handkerchief on the
end of a cord with a weight at the other end.)

I don't wish to get drawn into the discussion on the meaning of the original post (which I have long
since deleted) but would just like to clarify what we are _now_ referring to...
