I wore bifocals until very recently. My work demands relatively close up work (computer screens & manuals) but my commute (2-3 hours a day) requires long distance reading. I was getting neck strain with the bifocals (almost a 50-50 split).

I ended up getting contacts for long vision and wear off-the-shelf aspheric reading glasses for close vision.
