I wear multi-focals, and theoretically there ought to be a point in the
gradation between the reading area at the bottom and the distant area at
the top which is best for reading music. As it happens, at that distance I
see best without any glasses at all, which is lucky as the theory doesn't
seem to work (maybe I'm wrong about it anyway). However, it could be worth
explaining the problem to your optician and asking if multi-focals would
help. They're not cheap, unfortunately.
