Are you suggesting then that sustained volume and projection of tone are
not related to endurance in playing?

Are you suggesting that players who do use mouthpieces that are "open"
(1.19+ tip), and have asymetrical facings have endurance problems because
of the mouthpiece, their approach to playing or both? Or, is this a
phenomena related to your own playing?

That's a great question! I would respond that we draw the line in
different places for different people with different needs, physical
attributes, and abilities. The mouthpiece is, as Walter suggested, the
tool rather than the means. If the tool supports other educationally sound
approaches, there is greater room and space around which to draw such a line.
