I understand what you are saying here. It looks like you have found what
works for you and doesn't work for you.

Sanding the reed on the back works very well for me and others who say they
do it, so the assumption for how V12's are designed, based on the
information you have provided, may be premature.

You don't say how you "properly" seal the tradmark side of the reed - so I
can't tell if you think there is only one way or if you have a suggested
way here.

Because I haven't tested the grooved holder alongside the glass, I don't
have an opinion as to its effectiveness. However, I have not noticed that
there is a less stable reed as a result of storing sanded reeds on the
glass. I have noticed that there is a much more negative response from
reeds and increased warping if the reeds are not sanded on the back and
stored on glass, plexiglass, in a reed box, in a paper reed holder, in a
reed mate, and in a charcoal filtered Vandoren box (which has grooved
surfaces for each reed - but is plastic).

That's about all the information I can provide. Each person will have to
determine, as you have, what works best for themselves.
