All due respect to all parties on this discussion.

I'm going to side with Greg on this issue. Let me describe a recent experience.

While preparing for my recent Mozart/Brahms Quintet concert, we had several marathon rehearsals. One lasted nearly four hours with little break.

With the type of set-up described by Greg, I was able to rehearse with ease for the entire time. (I am fortunate in making mouthpieces and playing on what I make. The mouthpiece I used was very well adapted to my embouchure, with a close symmetrical facing, and to Vandoren 3 1/2's.

The string players that I played with commented favorably on my endurance, saying that that was not their experience in working with other clarinetists.
